I've just been researching the effects of candle scents and aromatherapy on human behaviour and mental states. As mentioned in my previous post there are a number of particular scents that are supposed to alleviate negative feelings and others that are supposed to encourage positive feelings (See here for a list of examples: Setting The Mood With Candles & Can Scents Affect Productivity in the Workplace?).
There is a strong case for positive effects however the problem with this is that there are so many different scents. Couple this with the myriad of different preferences that it becomes difficult to cater for them all. Maybe there would be a way of allowing the user to use different oils of their own choosing?
